After spending over 30 years in the retail photographic industry and providing custom framing services as well, founder Ted Mclauchlin, opened his dream concept of a creative photography business in 2009, with a no nonsense approach to photography, printing, framing and imaging. Highlander's goal is to provide creative options, professional quality products and service at a price that everyone can afford. Highlander has changed the paradigm of what professional photographic services and custom framing needs to cost.

In 2016, Ted's proteges, Duane and Urszula Kumala-Thomas, took ownership of Highlander Studios with an emphasis on maintaining and extending the high quality standards that have become synonymous with the name Highlander Studios. With a backgrounds in photography and fine arts, the new owners look to serve Oxford County for years to come adding art and soul to an already blossoming community.
